I know I'm five days late posting this, BUT:
The Super Bowl! In past years, I couldn't have cared less about it, but this year they aired it on Nickelodeon with Spongebob Squarepants (Tom Kenny) and Patrick Star (Bill ____??) doing live commentary! It was hilarious! It was the first time I've ever actually enjoyed a football game. They kept showing "celebrities" in the audience, but they were like, fish versions of the celebs with punny names. It was really funny! And there was lots of slime, of course!
The halftime show was great too! Usher is such a talented performer with so many hits! I was thinking about the early days of his career and the other popular artists around that time, and it occurred to me - he is way more talented than Justin Timberlake! Probably more talented than all five members of NSYNC combined, haha! Anyway, the medley was great and I was groovin'... Rollerskates!! |

Gameboy Life |
[Jan. 13th, 2023|08:23 pm] |
I've been playing a lot of video games. Last month, we finally received our Analogue Pocket, which we preordered about a year prior! It was a very exciting day! I called it the ninth day of Hanukkah because it was like the gifts just kept coming!
Then more recently, we got a Gameboy link cable to enable us to play 2-player! J lets me have the Analogue Pocket, and he's on a Gameboy Light. We play Puyo Puyo 2 (puzzle game with falling pieces - similar [yet different] from Tetris) and Gameboy Baseball (so good!).
I could go on and on about how the Analogue Pocket is breathing new life into Gameboy games! I love it so much! I love old games! Especially when they're in vivid colors on a beautiful, crisp OLED screen! ♡
But yeah, man... Baseball is really good! It's challenging and fun! J and I really get competitive over it! LOL And I'm also learning a lot about the game of baseball in general. Makes me think of my Pa, who loved baseball.
I'm going to try to post a real life update tomorrow! |

The Friday Five for November 11, 2022 |
[Nov. 11th, 2022|02:43 pm] |
1. Do you play any sports on a regular basis? Which? No.
2. What professional sports do you follow? I very loosely follow my local baseball and hockey teams, as well as soccer and fighting sports like MMA (thanks to J!).
3. Do you get enough exercise? No, not nearly!
4. What sport would you like to learn? Boxing, I guess?
5. Are there sports activities you used to participate in but stopped? I was on the girls' basketball team in 4th grade, and I took a few karate lessons around that time as well. Haven't done anything like that since!

UFC Dreams |
[Oct. 28th, 2022|05:52 pm] |
Last night I dreamed that I wanted to be a UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) fighter. I wanted to be known as "Betsy the Beast," LOL! But of course, in the real world these fighters don't give themselves nicknames, but earn them from others...
Anyway, there was a buff, jock dude who was gatekeeping and saying, "You're not fit to be a fighter, you're too old and fat," etc. And then there was a buff, black woman with lots of tiny braids pulled back into a ponytail, who was encouraging me to exercise and get in shape so I could do it! Telling me, "it's not too late!" It felt good having her stand up for me.
In reality, it is too late! After all, I'm pushing 40 and fucking obese.
But I wish I would've gotten into sports when I was younger. Whenever J watches UFC, I think, That could've been me... Since I'm quite tall and big-boned, I feel I could've been a successful fighter. Although I was somewhat physically fit when I was younger, I don't know if I had the right mindset for fighting. I believe it takes a lot of nerve. Basically, you have to be cool with getting punched in the face multiple times! I was just too fragile back then...
While my dad was a star athlete in high school, my mom was not at all sporty! The three of us girls weren't really encouraged to get into sports.
If I recall correctly, being on the girls' basketball team in the 4th grade was my idea. That and a few karate lessons around the same time period were the extents of my sports career. I don't believe my older sisters participated in sports, aside from what was required of them in gym class, of course. I really can't imagine either of them being into that sort of thing!
But yeah... Maybe in another life, or a parallel dimension or something! |
