Take Me to BabyLand! |

While on the subject of road trips, here's another destination on my list:
I've been wanting to visit BabyLand General Hospital ever since Shannon Shaw posted about it online. It's so cute, and it's free admission! Apparently the place even smells of Cabbage Patch Kids!! Does anyone else remember that sort of powdery, plastic-y smell they had? It was just lovely.
I actually thrifted a vintage Cabbage Patch Kid in excellent condition not too long ago... She was only $3 at Goodwill! She's African American with brown yarn hair in pigtails (complete with little yellow ribbons), and came dressed in CPK jeans, a yellow and white tee-shirt, a yellow jacket with CPK logo, and even little white tennis shoes!

A funny Cabbage Patch Kids story from my childhood behind the cut!
When I was really little I had these exact Cabbage Patch Kids slippers:

Ok, so I vaguely remember this happening, but it came up recently with my mom, so this is sort of how she told the story:
One Sunday when I was maybe three years old, I was instisting on wearing these slippers to Sunday School! I think my mom initially said "no," but I was probably being a brat, and since the dress code was pretty lax, what with being a Unitarian church and all, my mom finally gave in and let me wear them, thinking, "She'll be sorry." I wasn't though! In fact, the other children were envious that my mom had let me wear slippers to church! LOL! And that's the story!
Eeeeee I wanna go to BabyLand General Hospital!! I'd like to like how I look by then because talk about a great photo op!! |

I remember how they smell! I had at least one growing up and I'm pretty sure it was bald, since I was bald as a baby. Idk.
That was a good find for $3, and maybe worth some money if it is in that good condition.
I love the smell of Cabbage Patch Kids!!!
I think the bald ones were called premies (as insensitive as that sounds nowadays, ha!).
I had a CPK named Gracienne Camille and she was a French pop star. | |
